To Split, with lunch in Ston
Ston is an hour from Dubrovnik and right on the road to Split, so stopping there adds very little to the journey.
Use the time for the walls, which run up the hill behind the town, or for a slow lunch by the water in Mali Ston. Then the road crosses the Pelješac Bridge and carries on north.

The stops
Ston
The walls went up to protect Ston's salt, and the salt pans below them are still harvested. Walking the walls takes about an hour.
Mali Ston
A small harbour a couple of minutes away, with restaurants serving oysters and mussels from the bay.
Pelješac Bridge
No stop needed here. Keep your phone ready for the view of the bay as you cross.
Good to know
The route works in reverse too, from Split to Dubrovnik. Send the time you want in Ston and any restaurant booking, and the plan is built around it.
