North of Dubrovnik: Trsteno, Slano and Ston
The coast north of the city is quieter than the south. This trip takes it slowly: an old Renaissance garden, a stop by the sea at Slano and the afternoon in Ston.
Good for people who prefer gardens, history and a calm day to a long list of sights.

Trsteno Arboretum
Ston
The plan
Trsteno Arboretum
A Renaissance garden above the sea, with huge old trees, a fountain and paths leading down towards the water.
Slano
Slano sits at the end of a long, calm inlet with a little harbour. Time for a coffee or a swim.
Ston
The walls, the salt pans and narrow stone streets. Lunch in Ston or Mali Ston.
Good to know
The arboretum and the walls both charge entrance, paid on site. Comfortable shoes help on the walls.
