Dubrovnik from the hill: Ombla, the bridge and Srđ
A short trip that shows how Dubrovnik fits together: a river that comes straight out of the rock, the harbour at Gruž and the Old Town seen from the top of Srđ.
Two hours, very little walking. Good for a first day, or with children and grandparents.

Dubrovnik from Srđ
Ombla
The plan
Ombla spring
The Ombla rises from under the karst and reaches the sea after only a few kilometres. The water stays cold and clear even in high summer.
Franjo Tuđman Bridge
A stop at the cable-stayed bridge for the view over Gruž port and out to the Elaphiti islands.
Bosanka
The road climbs through this small village on the plateau behind the city.
Srđ
The Old Town, its walls and Lokrum lie straight below you. The fort at the top houses a museum about the siege of Dubrovnik in the 1990s.
Good to know
The light on Srđ is at its best in the late afternoon. Outside summer, take a jacket, as the top is often windy.
